Quotes (84)

by

The atheist is, morally, as well as mentally, a fool, a fool in the heart as well as in the  head; a fool in morals as well as in philosophy. With the denial of God as a starting  point, we may well conclude that the fool’s progress is a rapid, riotous, raving,
ruinous one. He who begins at impiety is ready for anything. “No God,” being  interpreted, means no law, no order, no restraint to lust, no limit to passion.
— Charles Spurgeon

  1. Sisyphus Fragment Says:

    Ahem.. Matthew 5:22..

    • Berry Says:

The context of that verse is to be unjustly angry at someone over a trivial matter. However, denying the existence of God is not a trivial matter it has eternal consequences. The Bible itself calls people who deny God fools and even explans how that foolishness results in a degredation of society. But what is scarier is what will happen to you if you deny God. To deny God is to flat out lie. The outlook for that is very grim! But if you are anything like me, that’s the least of what you have done. Have you ever stolen something? Downloaded some music without paying for it? That breaks the commandment “You shall not steal.” When you were young, and even now, do you honor your parents’ wishes and thier name? If not, that violates the commandment to honor your mother and father. Sir, if you break God’s rules he is just to punish you. If you were to die right now, where would you spend eternity? Heaven or Hell?

  2. Sisyphus Fragment Says:

Oh noes! Whatever shall I do? You’ve said scary things without any evidence! How can I combat that?! How can I get into Heaven when I’m wearing polyester AND defying my parents?!

But wait, the Muslim man over here says the exact same thing! What am I to do now?!

But wait! Now the Mormon man over there is saying the exact same thing only with more spacemen!

OMG what am I to do?! You all have exactly the same amount of evidence too!

    I think I’ll go eat a taco.

    • Berry Says:

Again, you show ignorance of the Bible by pulling that one. I suppose next you will command me not to eat shrimp despite the fact that those are aspects of the old covenant not repeated in the new. Lying, theiving, murdering, honoring your parents are all restated in the new covenant.

There is plenty of evidence. Textual, scientific, your own conscience…. You simply choose to ignore them.

Further, the Muslim does NOT say the same thing the Christian says. The Muslim says one must uphold all 5 pillars of Islam and be a good person to maybe, hopefully, have the mercy of Allah upon them when they die. Christianity says that there is nothing we can do to work our way to God and we are all rotten to the core.

The Mormon claim is also different. It says we are okay people who need (a space-man) Jesus to make up for where we are not okay. That isn’t what Christianity says. Humanity is saved by God’s grace and not from anyting we can do.

I hope you enjoy your taco. Please chew thoroughly so you do not choke.

  3. theageman Says:

“You can lead an Atheist to evidence, but you can’t make him think.”

    So true.

  4. Mario Bernardi Says:

Nice job. In one instance this man wants to act like a scholar by quoting scripture and then in another he can’t even see the obvious differences between the religions. I wonder what canned argument he will use next or perhps this time he will reason honestly with you.

PS. I left a link to my blog. Not very good though. It is mainly a place for me to talk about my experiences in evangelism and observations from the field.
