Celebrating Hope

by

Today, many are rejoicing that hope has come. That hope is sadly misplaced. As a Christian it is sinful if not damnable that we place our ultimate hope in anyone other than the Lord.

Psalm 40:4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not turn to the proud,to those who go astray after a lie!

Psalm 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.

Psalm 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.

Jeremiah 17:5 Thus says the LORD: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD.”

Jeremiah 17:7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD , whose trust is the LORD.”

Psalm 62:5 For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.

Psalm 146:5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God…

Psalm 71:5 For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth.
Now…  Let us sing a song of hope.

 The Solid Rock

 1.
My hope is built on nothing less
 Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

 Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock I stand,
 All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

 2.
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

 (Refrain)

 3.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

 (Refrain)

 4.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
 Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

 (Refrain)

My friends, hope in the true Messiah who died for those yet sinners.
