Bible Reading Plan (Day 15)

DAY FIFTEEN —  Genesis 16, Matthew 15

Gen 16

Abram listened to the voice of Sarai not the voice of the Lord.

Stepping outside of God’s prescriptions brings strife.

Because of Abram’s sin, his consequence was visited on the downline.

Mt 15

Jesus begins a full frontal assault on useless tradition.

The hand-washing the Pharisees refer to is not cleaning the crud off your hands before you eat. This is a ritual hand-washing which is based upon tradition, not Scripture.

True religion, Christianity, is not based on laws or works. It is based on faith, and from that love for the true God.

Jesus explains that unwashed hands creating defiled food does not make a person defiled. The already sinful nature makes one already defiled.

Extreme humility which expresses faith will not be denied.

The miracles had the intended effect, that and God of Israel be glorified. Jesus’ popularity increased.

Jesus’ compassion on people is paramount. He cares not only for their physical needs, but their spiritual needs as well.
