Do You Pray?

A Call to Prayer

This article by J. C. Ryle will have you convicted right out of the gate. Here’s a quick sampler…

Praying and sinning will never live together in the same heart. Prayer will consume sin, or sin will choke prayer.
— J. C. Ryle

Your love of Protestantism may be warm and unmistakable. But still this may be nothing more than head knowledge and party spirit. We want to know whether you are actually acquainted with the throne of grace, and whether you can speak to God as well as speak about God.
— J. C. Ryle

To be prayerless is to be without God, without Christ, without grace, without hope, and without heaven. It is to be on the road to hell. Now can you wonder that I ask the question, Do you pray?
